Government Through SIGA Returns Ejura Farmlands To Ejura Community  | General News

On 4th December 2024, the Government of Ghana, through the Minister of Public Enterprises, Hon. Joseph Cudjoe, and the Director-General of SIGA, Mr. John Boadu, officially handed over 15,000 acres of Ejura farmlands to the Ejura community.

The symbolic ceremony took place at a durbar hosted by Nana Barima Osei Hwedie II, the Ejurahene, and his Chiefs, with the participation of community members and stakeholders.

Mr. John Boadu, who spearheaded the initiative, recounted the journey that led to this milestone. “I received a petition on this issue from Nana Ejurahene after becoming the Director-General of SIGA. I then discussed it with my Minister, Hon. Joseph Cudjoe, to take it up. Together, we undertook numerous engagements, including meetings with His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, explaining that the lease for the Ejura Farms had expired as far back as 2018. We advocated for the Government to delist the farmland from the approved Cabinet Memorandum on the sale of assets of 17 defunct or inactive entities,” he explained.

Mr. Boadu expressed joy at the outcome, saying, “Today, the Government has fulfilled its promise, and we are here to present all the documents to Ejuraman for them to reclaim their farmland.”

Nana Barima Osei Hwedie II, Ejurahene, extended profound gratitude to Mr. John Boadu, Hon. Joseph Cudjoe, and the NPP Government for addressing the community’s long-standing plea. He described the gesture as a significant milestone that would positively impact Ejura’s development and agriculture.

In his closing remarks, Mr. John Boadu appealed to the people of Ejura to vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming presidential elections and support the NPP Parliamentary Candidate, Gifty Ndoma, to ensure the continuity of the Government’s good works.

The durbar ended on a high note, with the community expressing their appreciation through songs and praises, hailing the Government’s intervention as timely and impactful.
