Jackie Appiah Earns Nomination For AMAA Best Actress Award | General Entertainment


The Africa Film Academy, producers of the Africa Movie Award Academy, AMAA, have revealed the highly anticipated nominations for the upcoming 20th edition.

Celebrated Ghanaian actress, Jackie Appiah, has been nominated for the Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in the movie “Red Carpet” at this year’s Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAAs)

This was announced at the launch of the 20th edition of the awards ceremony which took place in Ikeja, Nigeria on Wednesday, October 2.

Jackie faces tough competition from Girley Jazama, Oyin Oladejo, Unati Faku, Uzoamaka Aniunoh, Laura Pepple and Ife Irele.

Among the dignitaries who graced the occasion were the Chief Operating Officer of AMAA, Mr Tony Anih and AMAA gala night producer, Mr Kingsley James.

Themed, “Celebrating African Creativity,” this milestone event promises to be a spectacular celebration of African excellence in filmmaking.

AMAA’s founder, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, revealed an exciting lineup of activities for the 20th edition:

– October 25: Launch of the AMAA coffee table book

– November 1: AMAA Africa Night of Legends

– AMAA Meets Nollywood (date TBA)

– AMAA Africa Fashion Show and Exhibition (date TBA)

– November 2: AMAA Gala Night at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja GRA, Lagos

According to Anyiam-Osigwe, the 2024 AMAA aims to redefine continental awards, chart a new course for the future, celebrate greatness in Africa’s creative industry.

This 20th edition promises to be a memorable tribute to African creativity, innovation, and artistic achievement.
