GFA To Decide Coach Otto Addo’s Future Amid 2025 AFCON Disappointment | Football/Soccer

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council is set to make a decision on Otto Addo’s future as head coach of the Black Stars following the team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Addo, who signed a 34-month contract with an option to extend for two more years upon his return, has faced increasing pressure after a disappointing second stint.

Black Stars have played nine matches, managing just two wins since his reappointment in March this year. His final game could be the dead-rubber encounter against Niger on Monday, following their elimination from AFCON contention.

The ExCo will meet on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, to discuss the team’s performance and chart the way forward. With the Black Stars’ disastrous qualification campaign marking their first AFCON absence since 2004, calls for a change in leadership have intensified.

The meeting will also review broader football development issues, including the state of other national teams and domestic competitions, as the GFA seeks to rebuild confidence in Ghana football.
