Ghana To Host African Oil Week Conference, Exhibition September 2025 | Business News


Ghana has been selected to host the 30-year-old African Oil Week (AOW) conference, networking and exhibition outside its long time traditional venue, Cape Town in South Africa in September 2025.

The world-class programme brings together governments, regulators, global operators, power producers, investors and service providers, who work to develop policy, secure investments and nurture partnerships that will promote sustainable development and energy transformation across the continent and beyond.

It attracts over 1,600 delegates from over 70 countries. They include 80 ministers and government officials and others delegates drawn from 760 companies in oil and gas related field.

The Secretary General of the African Petroleum Producers’ Association (APPO), Dr Omar Farouk Ibrahim announced this at the official opening of week-long AOW Conference, Networking and Exhibition in Cape Town in South Africa today.

He said they have the commitment of all the major players including African Energy Chamber, organisers of the Energy Week, and Sankofa the new owners AOW and APPO to work together for the good of the continents energy industry.

“To start with, African Oil Week is moving base from Cape Town to Accra from 2025” and said more details of the selections of Ghana would be announced on Thursday from management of Sankofa Events.

Ghana’s Minister of State at the Ministry of Energy, Mr Herbert Krapa, who was also a speaker at the opening ceremony expressed excitement at the announcement and said “Ghana is proud to be hosting Africa Oil Week 2025”.

He made it clear that government was fully committed to ensuring that Africa Oil Week maintains its Pan-African focus by inviting governments, national oil companies, regulators from across the continent and private sector players to share their experiences, take advantage of the opportunities on the continent and for the synergy that helps all people to make that leap out of from economic struggles that we face”.

“We welcome you to Ghana and we encourage you to be part of this exciting new chapter. You have the full commitment of the government to ensure that Africa Oil Week in Accra will be everything that you have known it for in Cape Town and more,” Mr Krapa stated.

He said together as Africans, he was of the strong conviction that they can shape the future of energy in Africa and create a lasting impact for people on the continent.

Mr Krapa said Sankofa Events, under the leadership of Paul Sinclair, has a clear vision for the African continent and the oil and gas sector and that the government of Ghana found in Sankofa Events a true advocate for the region.

He described it as an organization committed to creating a platform that governments in the private sector can collectively use to support the growth of the region.
