Chief Justice Unhappy With Manipulative, Criminal Acts Of Court Staff In Producing Fake Divorce Documents | General News

The Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo has raised concerns regarding acts of manipulation among the staff of the Judicial Service.

She expressed concern about the handling of land litigation cases by certain members of the Judicial Service, accusing them of exploiting the system for personal benefit.

She disclosed that some court officials have been altering land documents in favour of particular individuals in return for bribes, which compromises the judiciary’s integrity.

Speaking at a meeting with Judicial Service staff in Cape Coast, as part of the 50th-anniversary celebration of the Judicial Service Staff Association, she urged immediate measures to halt these unethical behaviors.

Justice Torkornoo also appealed to staff to adhere to higher standards and work towards changing the public’s negative perception of corruption within the judicial system.

The Chief Justice also voiced concerns about the rising involvement of some court workers in other criminal activities citing cases where staff have produced fake divorce documents and fraudulent letters of administration, which have been used to drain the accounts of deceased individuals, depriving rightful heirs of their inheritance.

According to Justice Torkornoo, these illegal actions contribute to delays in the justice delivery process, causing frustration and hardship for those seeking legal resolutions.

She stressed the importance of eradicating these practices to restore confidence in the judiciary and enhance its efficiency.
