I Did Not Accuse The Entire Organized Labour Of Demanding Funds To Call Off Strike – Abronye Clarifies | General News
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bono Regional Chairman, Mr. Kwame Baffoe has clarified claims that the leadership of Organised Labour demanded money to call off its planned strike.
According to a statement signed by Abronye affectionately called in politics, “It must be placed on record that, I never, in my conversation with Wontumi TV mentioned that the Inter-Ministerial committee of which Hon. Kan Dapaah is in charge attempted to bribe the leadership of the Organised Labour.”
He said a statement from the National Security rubbishing his claims is ‘unfortunate” and “I demand a retraction of their statement and also ask that they render an unqualified apology to me.”

My attention has been drawn to a press release emanating from the National Security Ministry, of which said release, was signed by the Hon Minister.
First and foremost, the press release is not only unfounded but unwarranted as well.
It must be placed on record that, I never, in my conversation with Wontumi TV mentioned that the Inter-Ministerial committee of which Hon. Kan Dapaah is in charge attempted to bribe the leadership of the Organised Labour. As a respected Ministry, I suggest the Minister should have called for the recordings of the said interview to ascertain the veracity, or accuracy of the false complaint lodged by the corrupt General Secretary of the Organised Labour.
In the said interview, I made an emphatic and true statement that, Joshua Ansah (in person) and *Not* the leadership of Organised Labour demanded five million Ghana cedis from some members of the New Patriotic Party in order to curtail Organised Labour demonstrations against the Government and the Party since we are in an election year. I continued by stating that, because that request was turned down, Joshua Ansah has developed some form of hatred against the NPP government and therefore has decided to make the NPP government unpopular, hence his frivolous and baseless statement saying that, if the government does not ban minining he would rally the entire Organised Labour to demonstrate against the Government.
Furthermore, in the said interview, I furthered on by asking this simple question that, “Did he ask the Labour Union to demonstrate against ” the Mahama Administration in 2015 when he failed to deliver his campaign promises regarding Galamsey? “
For the purposes of clarity, John Mahama in his 2012 Manifesto at page 40″ with regards to the Mining for National Development, at the last paragraph, promised and I quote ” Vigorous Implementation of the programme to transform galamsey operations into legitimate small scale mining activity on clearly demarcated areas”. He failed abysmally on this promise but we also did not hear Joshua Ansah offering such bogus and stupid threats.
I must also state on authority that, during TUC elections, Joshua Ansah collected an amount of Ghc 500,000 from a Minister (name withheld) as Transportation fare for the Labour Union, whereby, he deliberately decided not to offer the Union a pesewa. At that time there was No inter-ministerial committee of which the National Security Minister is or was in charge.
In fact, two days ago, the corrupt Joshua Ansah hurriedly ran to the said minister to ask him why he had leaked the information concerning the money he took from him to me.
The Organised Labour’s General Secretary, Mr Joshua Ansah is behaving as if members of the TUC are in his pocket and therefore thinks, that he can use them for his parochial and self-interest as the case may be.
Flowing from the above , it is imperative that, the Ministry of National Security should be seen as a respected one and therefore, desist from responding to issues that are not within their domain.
In view of that, I demand a retraction of their statement and also ask that they render an unqualified apology to me.
Thank you
