We Condemn Your ‘Inappropriate’, ‘Counterproductive’ Call To Demonstrate Against EC – WNPG Rebukes Mahama | Politics

The Women’s Network for Peace Ghana (WNPG) has slammed former President and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama, for what they say is a call by him for demonstrations to be held against the Electoral Commission.

The group issued a statement condemning Mr. Mahama’s act, saying “such a call is both inappropriate and counterproductive, undermining the integrity of our electoral process and fostering unwarranted skepticism about the EC’s impartiality and effectiveness”.

They added; “We unequivocally condemn this action and urge all political parties and stakeholders involved in the electoral process to refrain from making statements that could incite disaffection and cast doubt on the credibility of the EC. The Electoral Commission is a cornerstone of our democratic framework, tasked with ensuring fair and transparent elections. Eroding public confidence in this crucial institution jeopardizes the stability and credibility of our democracy.”

The Women’s Network for Peace Ghana (WNPG) is deeply concerned about the recent call by the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ex Prez. John Dramani Mahama for demonstrations against the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana.

Such a call is both inappropriate and counterproductive, undermining the integrity of our electoral process and fostering unwarranted skepticism about the EC’s impartiality and effectiveness.

We unequivocally condemn this action and urge all political parties and stakeholders involved in the electoral process to refrain from making statements that could incite disaffection and cast doubt on the credibility of the EC.

The Electoral Commission is a cornerstone of our democratic framework, tasked with ensuring fair and transparent elections. Eroding public confidence in this crucial institution jeopardizes the stability and credibility of our democracy.

The integrity of our electoral process hinges on collective support and respect for the institutions that uphold it. It is essential that grievances be addressed through appropriate legal and institutional avenues rather than through public demonstrations that may destabilize our democratic norms.

We call on all political actors to engage in constructive dialogue and address grievances through established legal and institutional channels. It is only through such measured approaches that we can preserve the integrity of our democratic processes and ensure that the voice of the people is duly represented.
