We Need A Collective Effort To Reset Ghana – Amasah Namoale | Politics
Former Member of Parliament (MP) for La Dadekotopon, Nii Amasah Namoale, has expressed his views on proactive measures needed to be rolled out to help in preventing galamsey activities in the country.
Speaking on September 4, 2024, on the Angel Morning Show with Okatakyie Afrifa, the former lawmaker said the effort to curb the national problem demands a collective one.
He stated emphatically that the state institutions in charge of the fight against illegal mining have not been functioning effectively and therefore the citizens must ensure they play their part to complement the government’s attempt.
He also said that some Ghanaians should not think that they are free from the effects of galamsey just because they are not close to those areas.
“This is because they might definitely purchase items or foodstuffs produced from these towns in the mining catchment areas which might be affected due to galamsey activities and when these items are consumed it would cause harm to their health.”
He advised Ghanaians not to dismiss the issue simply because they do not live near these galamsey communities. According to him, it has become very essential for everyone to take an active role in preventing illegal mining.
By coming together to address this issue, Amasah Namoale said ‘We can protect our environment, safeguard our health, and ensure a sustainable future for all.’
