NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Twifo Ati-Morkwa Remanded Into Police Custody | Politics
News gathered indicate that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate for Twifo Ati-Morkwa, Ebenezer Dwamena, together with two persons have been remanded into police custody.
In a report filed by 3news.com, the three persons have been allegedly charged with conspiracy to defraud by false pretense and false pretenses, which is contrary to section 131 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act 1960 (Act 29).
This incident took place at the Circuit Court in Assin Kyekyewere presided over by her ladyship Sophia Priscilla Yeboah. Her Ladyship’s decision to remand the three suspects is intended to allow time for the Police to forward the case docket to the Attorney-General’s Office for advice.
According to the news gathered, the accused persons’ lawyers had raised concerns about the Circuit Court’s jurisdiction, citing the amount involved, which exceeds Gh¢300,000.00.
According to available information, the case involves allegations that Mr. Ebenezer Dwamena, the NPP’s Parliamentary Candidate and his accomplices failed to produce a vehicle after receiving payment from a businessman in Twifo Praso.
