Jurors Declare Strike Over 10 Months Unpaid Allowances | General News
Indictable offences such as murder, manslaughter, rape at the High Court are facing significant delays as jurors have commenced a strike due to 10 months unpaid allowances.
The jurors, who have not received their allowances for February 2023 and from July 2023 to May 2024, have decided to lay down their tools effective today.
The jurors are a group of people who hear evidence in a trial and give a verdict.
Despite assurances from authorities that payments would be made this month, no progress has been made.
The jurors have expressed that the lack of payment has caused considerable difficulties in covering their transportation costs to and from the court, making it untenable for them to continue their duties.
The strike is expected to impact the judicial process, causing further delays in ongoing Indictable cases.
