NPP Flagbearer Race: I Believe Dr. Bawumia Will Win But . . . – Atik Mohammed Cautions | Politics

Atik Mohammed has predicted victory for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming New Patriotic Party’s presidential election.

The election branded ‘showdown’ will see four candidates: the Vice President, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, Dr. Owusu Afriyie-Akoto, the former Agric Minister, and a leading member of the New Patriotic Party, Francis Addai-Nimoh, put up a fierce contest.

However, the real battle is said to be between Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Kennedy Agyapong, with the latter promising to give his competitor a showdown.

Atik Mohammed, who has since the candidates began their campaigns refused to reveal his favorite among them, speaking on Peace FM’s morning show “Kokrokoo” today, broke his long silence.

“My belief is that Dr. Bawumia will win eventually, but Ken will put up a good fight. Because his campaign is going well, but eventually, you know, my belief and conviction is that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will win,” he told Nana Yaw Kesseh.

The former PNC member was convinced beyond doubts that the Vice President would emerge as the flagbearer of the ruling party; nonetheless, he cautioned the NPP to remain united after the primary, advising that “this contest is not to make you the President of the Republic of Ghana but is to entitle you to stand in a much bigger contest. So, your behavior, utterances, and the way you relate to the party faithful and Ghanaians is very important and would have telling effects on the way the main campaign will be wished”.
