Akosombo Dam Spillage: Organize A National Workshop for Engineers – Nana Akomea Proposes | General News

Discussions about the spillage of the Akosombo dam and the effects on affected areas are ongoing as government, public and private entities make donations to the victims.

The government, NADMO and the Volta River Authority together with the Ghana Armed Forces and Navy have done a great work safeguarding the residents in the affected communities and providing relief items to them.

Other entities like SIC Insurance, Despite Media and various individuals have all joined in providing aid to the victims in hope of restoring them to normal life.

As the donations trickle in, there are also suggestions for the Volta River Authority to put mechanisms in place to avoid causing havoc and one of the persons interested in what the Authority would do to control the damage that comes with the spillage is Nana Akomea, Chief Executive Officer of InterCity State Transport Corporation (STC).

Nana Akomea has proposed a national workshop should be held for the Engineers of the Authority and in the country to stop the waste anytime the Akosombo dam is spilled.

Citing instances in the United Kingdom and Netherlands among others where they have measures to curb similar situations, Nana Akomea hoped holding a conference with the engineers to come up with better ideas and solutions to prevent recurrence of destruction associated with the Akosombo dam spillage is the way to go.

He called on the Engineers to “fetch ways to utilize the water to avoid a disaster like this”.

Nana Akomea made this appeal while speaking on Peace FM’s morning show “Kokrokoo”.
